Update from the National Research Centre, Egypt
We are delighted to hear from our Egyptian colleagues following the 2016 installation of a 4 m3 pilot Phyco-Flow™ system for the National Research Centre in Cairo. The team report participation in the Industrial Pharmaceutical Alliance, in which they aim to produce novel nutraceuticals from a range of different algal strains. This initiative has been approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, stating that new products must only be produced from algae grown under controlled conditions in closed system photobioreactors due to high air pollution contaminating open pond systems.
Our Phyco-Flow™ photobioreactor will therefore play a key role in algal cultivation. Recently, Professor Farouk K. El-Baz, PI of the project presented their successes in biodiesel production at the National Conference of Scientific Research held under auspices and in the presence of H.E. President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as shown below. We look forward to supporting their ongoing research and wish them all the best!
